Delegates to the 10th World Avocado Congress are invited to attend the opening ceremony:

The 10th World Avocado Congress will be opened by the President of the World Avocado Congress Committee, Jen Scoular and guests will be welcomed by the New Zealand government by Hon. Meka Whaitiri, Minister of Food Safety, Minister of Customs, Associate Minister of Agriculture.
The event will be celebratory, welcoming delegates from 32 countries to New Zealand.
New Zealand has never before hosted the World Avocado Congress and NZ Avocado, along with WAC NZ Ltd wishes to provide a warm welcome to the global avocado community.
Many delegates will have been on fielddays prior to attending the opening ceremony but should have returned from the fieldday in time to also attend the opening ceremony.
Ngāti Whātua will welcome delegates to the Aotea Centre.
They will then welcome a Maori group to give a cultural performance for delegates.
The Congress MC Wendy Petrie will take delegates through the programme for the following three days, setting out how each session and day will run. Wendy will provide some tips on how to use the Congress app, how to find coffee, restaurants and shops in the nearby vicinity and offer some guidance as to how delegates might make the most of this prestigious event.
Following the formal opening a selection of New Zealand wine and beer will be shared with guests in the venue foyers, with some light canapes.
The opening ceremony will conclude at 7.30pm.
The registration desk will be open from 4pm to 8pm in the foyer of the venue, on the 3rd floor.
